Police Chase Through Romford Town Centre Ends With Teenager Arrested For Carrying A Machete.

A dramatic police chase through Romford town centre has ended with officers recovering a machete discarded in a garden.

At around 1:55pm on Thursday, 18 September, Romford Town Centre officers on patrol attempted to stop a man in Oldchurch Gardens. Instead of complying, the suspect ran, sparking a pursuit through nearby streets.

During the chase, officers saw the man throw a large machete into a garden. The weapon was swiftly recovered, and the suspect was detained moments later.

The 18-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on 19 September and is due to face Snaresbrook Crown Court next month.
