Every week a special women’s walk and talk group takes place called ‘Solesteppers’ at Hornchurch Country Park. Run by Maxine Kemp, the group has grown in numbers and supports many women

Maxine is a remarkable lady who has experienced horrendous violence herself and has now made it her mission to fight and campaign against violence towards women.

Maxine told the Havering Daily: “I am on a mission to raise £500 to support a cause that is close to my heart.

“A great community of women last year raised nearly £5000, for local charities and groups, and we donated over £2000 to Havering Women’s Aid. We also have an ongoing Handbag appeal where nearly 100 filled bags have been donated and have also donated gifts for the women and children.”

The team have also donated over a 1000 to Mitchell’s Miracles Including doing a Santa Walk.

Last year Maxine walked 300 miles to raise money for Women’s Aid and this year she’s doing the 32 borough challenge in a bid to raise £500 for the charity.
