New Drop In Centre For Armed Forces Veterans To Launch In Havering.
A new drop-in centre for Armed Forces veterans is launching in Hornchurch this September.
The initiative is led by Mike Murray, Armed Forces Champion for East London DWP, Charles Ryan, Armed forces champion for Havering council/NHS and Mental Health charity Mind and its new veterans support programme.
The first session takes place on Wednesday 3 September, from 1:30pm-3:30pm at St George’s Medical Centre. Veterans from Havering, Barking and Dagenham are invited along for a chat, a cuppa and the chance to access advice and support from local organisations.
Mike Murray told the Havering Daily: “ This drop-in will give members of the armed forces community a safe and welcoming space to meet and get support from the organisations present and signposted to others who may assist. Mind will also be on hand with their dedicated veterans support programme to provide further assistance. This outreach approach, by organisations working together, will bring a more holistic approach to the armed forces community attending and hopefully give the veterans a voice to be heard”.
The planned events are :
3, 10, 17 and 24 September from 1:30-3:30pm at the St George’s Medical Centre in Hornchurch.
