Havering Police Run Fantastic Innovation Hub That Brings Communities Together to Tackle Violence Against Women and Girls.
The Havering Innovation Hub held last week in Romford by Havering Police, brought together local charities, support services, and community organisations to focus on innovative approaches to tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
These ongoing events are being held across the borough aimed at not only protecting women, but providing a vital network for their ongoing support.
The event featured powerful testimonies and highlighted the strength of partnership working across Havering. Key themes included collaboration, listening to survivors, and the importance of encouraging positive male role models to challenge inappropriate behaviour.
Organisations such as Cranstoun, Aanchal Women’s Aid, Hourglass, Surviving Economic Abuse, Andy’s Man Club, MENDAS, and Gingerbread Havering showcased their ongoing work in the borough, from trauma recovery programmes and economic support to behaviour change programmes and confidential safe spaces.
Attendees were encouraged to continue building connections, sharing resources, and working collectively to ensure no victim is left without support.
The Innovation Hub is about bringing people together to learn, share and take action. Tackling VAWG requires all of us, multi-agencies, charities, and communities, to play our part. I’m proud of the commitment shown here in Havering and the impact these partnerships will have on those who need it most.
Inspector Jayshree Patel, organised the event and allowed both men and women, to share experiences and highlight the need for change across many areas.
Inspector Patel is working hard across Havering with her team to support women and this regular event provides continued opportunities to make vital changes.
She told the Havering Daily:
“I am passionate about bringing different strands together and will continue to support and provide a platform for charities, services, and community voices to work together towards ending violence and abuse.”
