Metropolitan Police teams from Havering and Bexley joined forces with forensic security specialists Datatag at the British Super Bikes (BSB) event at Brands Hatch for a day of positive public engagement and crime prevention awareness.

The stand, one of the busiest at the venue, saw officers engage with thousands of visitors throughout the day – promoting forensic tool marking, vehicle security, and crime prevention kits. Products on display included items from Datatag, HipLock, Litelock, TVL, and Oxford, highlighting real-world solutions to help tradespeople, motorists and bike owners protect their property.

“Officers are emphasising the importance of forensic tool marking across the industry whilst supporting events that matter to the community,” said Inspector Connolly. “Working together with specialist companies and organisers, we can make a huge difference. If your tools and vehicles are not forensically marked, it’s incredibly hard for us to return them or prosecute offenders. Mark your property – and join us in the fight against criminals.”

South Hornchurch Inspector Mark Connolly, has been leading the Met’s fight against tool theft and working with relevant partners in a bid to support all communities.

CEO of Datatag, Kevin Howells, said:
“Tool theft doesn’t just stop at the track gates – and this weekend neither did we. Working with the Metropolitan Police at our side, we are taking the fight to the front line. We’re showing thousands why marking your tools isn’t optional – it’s essential. If it matters enough to use, it matters enough to protect.”

Kevin and the Datatag team were instrumental in securing a space at this high-profile event, which served as a powerful platform for raising awareness.

The good news? The momentum continues.

Datatag is now planning further joint events with the Met in both Havering and Bexley focusing on tool marking and vehicle crime prevention – bringing practical crime-fighting strategies right into the heart of our communities.
