Rainham Dangerous Footpath To Be Repaired Following Swift Intervention By Margaret Mullane MP.

Local residents in Farm Road, Rainham, and parents walking their children to Parsonage Farm Primary School reported severe trip hazards because of the poor state of the footpath. When no action was being taken to carry out the repairs, people reached out to Dagenham and Rainham MP, Margaret Mullane.

Margaret was told that children had fallen and suffered cuts and bruises and that this was happening on a regular basis. In response to this Margaret quickly contacted Havering Council and has now received a response from the Council to say that the repairs to the footpath have been arranged.

Margaret told the Havering Daily: “When I was made aware of this problem and a number of children had tripped and hurt themselves due to the uneven footpath in Farm Road I made contact with Havering Council and am pleased that they are now going to sort out the problem.

I have been told that the repairs will be carried out by the contractor in within the next 28 days.

It seems that part of the problem is due to the roots of trees breaking up the footpath. It’s great that we have trees on streets but when councils plant trees they need to be careful about the exact species so as to prevent problems in the future when the trees mature and grow.”
