Beam Park: Vacant Units, Towering Weeds, And Piles of Rubbish, The Unintended Consequence Of Dither And Delay.
News from Beam Park Councillor Trevor McKeever and Matthew Stanton.
Beam Park residents will be only too familiar with the reluctance of the previous government to commit to the development of Beam Park Station. This has led to a long delay in unlocking the potential of the area.
Nowhere is this more apparent than the Fordview Industrial Estate, directly opposite the Beam Park development and the yet to be built station. Vacant units, towering weeds, and piles of rubbish have been reported to the Council without any real change.
“As this area becomes more residential in nature, particularly along New Road, it’s important that businesses are more responsible”, said Cllr Trevor Mckeever “we want to see our local businesses thrive but they can do that without becoming an eyesore”
“Despite over a dozen service requests and member enquiries in the last two years, residents can see that the Council has not been able to get a handle on the situation. We have contacted Havering again this week urging them to provide evidence of enforcement action and to let us know whether they believe the situation to be acceptable” said Cllr Matt Stanton. “We know that we can rely on The Havering Daily to help us hold the Council to account”.
