Two Rainham Grassroot Sport Venues Receive Government Grants.
Dagenham and Rainham MP Margaret Mullane welcomes news for grassroots sport in Rainham and South Hornchurch
The news that two grassroots sporting venues in the south of Havering, within the constituency of Dagenham and Rainham, are to receive grants from the Government has been greeted by Margaret Mullane MP.
The Government released details on 10 June of the national programme of investment from which 1,650 local sports clubs and facilities will benefit. The programme includes significant support for projects at Spring Farm park Rainham and Brittons Playing Field South Hornchurch.
Margaret told the Havering Daily: “This is great news. A grant of £202,733 is being made to develop a football hub at Brittons Playing Field and a grant of £1,476 has been made available to provide floodlights to sports pitches at Spring Farm park.
Investing in grassroots sports promotes health and increases opportunities for communities in safe environments, it will facilitate greater participation in sports and recreational activity.
I am told that an additional £98 million will be invested in 2025/26 for grassroots sports, so I encourage local sports groups and clubs across Dagenham and Rainham to begin discussions with Havering and Barking and Dagenham Councils to put together bids to enhance facilities.”
