‘Be Proud Of Beam Park’-Beam Park Wombles Continue Their Fantastic Work.
The Beam Park Wombles held their second litter pick on 27 of April, tackling the litter around Dover’s Corner.
Rainham community campaigner Sue Watson was keen to champion the effect that groups like this have,. “Not only is it good exercise, you catch up with friends and neighbours, and there’s a real sense of accomplishment when you realise what a positive impact you’ve made”, said Sue.
Beam Park Councillors Trevor Mckeever and Matt Stanton also joined in with the litterpick. “A lot of the litter is unfortunately people casually discarding their rubbish from their cars or as they walk along” said Cllr Mckeever, “and they are probably the same people that complain about how the Council spends its money – there would be more to go around if people were more responsible with their rubbish”.
Cllr Stanton commented that they had established a few locations where they thought the placement of a litter bin would make a difference “we understand that the councils budget is tight, but residents want to be able to walk out of their doors and see clean and well-kept streets. A few more bins would go a long way towards that.”
