A Harold Hill grandfather who was dropping his grandchildren off outside a Primary School, was involved in a dispute with a Council parking warden who ticketed his vehicle and then is believed to have lashed out and pushed the disabled man to the ground telling him to call the police.

The shocking incident happened on January 14 on Straight Road when Peter who has Leukemia, was with his daughter who is severely visually impaired and her children, dropping them off at their school.

Peter parks as close as he legally can to the school, due to his daughter Sasha not being able to see very well and struggles to drop her daughter everyday.

As the vehicle pulled up on the crossways, the traffic warden sprung out and ticketed Peter’s car despite him being a blue badge holder.

Peter then exited his car to ask the warden why he had been given a ticket and the warden’s response was ‘appeal’ and walked off.

Peter then went to get a photo of the warden and to get his name to complain, when the warden put his hood up and began being abusive.

Peter responded and a verbal altercation took place that then resulted in the warden allegedly reaching out with both hands and pushing Peter to the ground. He then watched Peter struggle to get up and told him to call the police.

The police were called and a search for the warden was made.

Peter attended the Harold Wood clinic after receiving extensive bruising. He now is believed to have a suspected fracture and has been referred for an emergency CT scan.

The incident has left the family extremely upset and angry by what has happened.

A council spokesperson told the Havering Daily:

The Police have dropped the complaint due to lack of evidence.

The complainant was observed to be parked with 4 wheels on the pavement and on the pedestrian crossing zig zag markings close to the school. For safety reasons, no one can park here, even if they have a disabled badge.

In relation to social media posts on this, which suggested significant injuries were sustained and caused by our officer this does not appear to match the report given to us or the Police. Our officers should be able to carry out their duties without fear of abuse.

It is believe that the police investigation is still on-going.
