Romford Conservatives Announce A New Team At The Top.

Romford Conservatives are under new management. The team held their annual general meeting on Sunday at Margaret Thatcher House and have now announcing a new team.

Andrew Rosindell-the Member of Parliament for Romford has welcomed the election of the new team and has pledged to give them his full support as the local party begins the new year with a renewed determination to stop Labour ever winning in Romford and make their come-back in Havering Town Hall

The team now comprises of the following:

New Chairman of the Romford Conservative Association (R.C.A.) is Cllr. Viddy Persaud, who was elected by acclamation by members, along with Deputy Chairmen, Cllr. Christine Vickery (Political) and Cllr. Nisha Patel (Membership), with Cllr. Dilip Patel re-elected as Treasurer.

Longstanding local party member and loyalist, Cllr. Carol Smith was elected as the new President of the R.C.A. with former Mayor, Wendy Brice-Thompson as Deputy President, along with local businessman, Richard Willis, veteran activist Sandy Scott and former M.P., Sir Neil Thorne O.B.E. T.D. Former councillor, Joe Webster, who was Chairman of Romford Conservatives between 2002-2005 was also appointed a new Vice-President.

A number of additional Association Officers were also elected to form the new team to take the local party forward towards the 2026 local council elections. These included: Vice-Chairmen, Ashely Kissin (Local Government); Bailey Nash-Gardner (Political Campaigning); Erwin Luzac (Recruitment) and Chuckwuemeka Echedom (Business), along with Martynas Cekavicius (Press & Communications Officer); Sue Bryant (Data and Information Officer); Cllr. Tim Ryan (Special Events Co-ordinator); and Ben Suter (Chairman of the Romford Conservative Policy Forum).

This year’s annual awards were presented by Andrew Rosindell M.P. to the following members, on behalf of the Association:

Margaret Thatcher Cup: Cllr. Tim Ryan in recognition of his long-standing work and dedication to the Conservative Party in Romford.

Winston Churchill Shield: “The House Team” of Cllr. Christine Vickery; Bailey Nash-Gardner; Sue Connelly B.E.M. and Doug Offord, for looking after Margaret Thatcher House all year round and keeping the building in good order.

The Norman Tebbit Cup: Joe Webster for campaigning in support of the Conservative Party and in particular, former Romford M.P., the late Sir Michael Neubert K.C.M.G. and current Romford M.P., Andrew Rosindell.

Following the meeting, Association Chairman, Cllr. Viddy Persaud said:

“I am proud to have been chosen by the Romford Conservative Association to be their new Chairman for 2025/26 and look forward to working with my excellent officer team and with Andrew Rosindell M.P. as we look to the next local elections and build on the success of last year’s General Election in Romford. I will work to revitalise our local organisation, expand our membership and activist base to ensure that Romford remains Conservative for many years to come.”
