The Winter Wellness Scheme will identify adults who might need some support with their physical and mental health this winter and help them to get connected with their community.

During the winter months, a team from the Council will be contacting residents who may potentially need some support, to speak directly to them and help them get connected to the most suitable place or service for them.

This could be a befriending or voluntary service, one of the local area coordinators who are there to signpost residents to support in their community or one of the borough’s health and wellbeing coaches.

The Council will be working in partnership with services such as the NHS and community and voluntary sectors to identify residents and guide them towards help and support.

Councillor Gillian Ford, Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said:

“We want to ensure our residents stay as well as possible during the winter months, a time when people are sometimes more isolated. Our Winter Wellness Scheme will help to identify people who might need some extra support be it physically, mentally or socially, to access what they need.

“Having a chat or doing something we enjoy with others can make a huge difference to our wellbeing, so knowing that support is out there is crucial for anyone who needs it.”
