Warning to Parents.

A group of teenage girls out in Romford on Sunday afternoon were threatened and abused by a gang of youths after refusing to ‘click’ the top of a pen. The incident happened at a Romford shopping centre around 3.30pm when the girls were approached by around eight males, all aged between 15-17 years old and told to press the top of a pen that the youths had in their pocket.

It is believed that when the item is pressed, a blade comes out of the bottom of the pen.

The girls refused to do what the youths had asked them to do and walked away. As a result the youths became threatening and hurling abuse at the girls and followed them through the shopping centre.

Fortunately one of the girls entered the HMV store where they located security staff and asked for help. The staff immediately stepped in.

The girls did not recognise any of the youths and believe that they are not from this area. They are described as wearing hoodies, sagging jogging bottoms, and of different races.

This is a very worrying incident for parents.
