Two former England rugby internationals, James Haskell and Will Greenwood, are joining the Romford and Gidea Park Rugby Club’s Schools and Community Programme, bringing their expertise, passion, and star power to inspire the next generation.

James Haskell: Bringing Energy and Inspiration

James Haskell, former England and British Lions player, brings his trademark energy and charisma to the programme. Known not only for his rugby career but also as a DJ, producer, presenter, and podcaster, Haskell is a multi-talented personality who continues to inspire audiences beyond the pitch.

Haskell will be the star guest at a special event celebrating the relaunch of the Schools and Community Programme at Crow lane on Friday, 24 January 2025. This event, aimed at students in Primary Years and Secondary schools, promises an afternoon of fun, learning, and rugby.

Will Greenwood: A Rugby World Cup Winner

Will Greenwood, a true legend of the game, played a pivotal role in England’s historic 2003 Rugby World Cup victory.. With 55 England caps, 31 tries, and a career as one of the joint third-highest try-scorers in English rugby history, Greenwood is celebrated as one of England’s all-time greats. A three-time British and Irish Lions tourist (1997, 2001, 2005), he’s also well-known as a Sky TV presenter, host of School of Hard Knocks, and columnist for The Saturday Telegraph. Greenwood’s commitment to grassroots rugby makes him the perfect ambassador for this transformative programme.

Greenwood said “ They are doing amazing things at Romford and Gidea Park, each schools partnership is unique like a thumb print and designed to meet your school’s needs. Contact the legends at Romford and Gidea Park to see how you, your school and your students can be part of this incredible opportunity”
