Live Facial Recognition Used By Officers In Romford.
Officers deployed Live Facial recognition last week in Romford. During the deployment of the precision fighting technology, officers arrested four people.
One man was wanted for assault and theft, and one for fraud. Two men were also arrested for breaching a sexual prevention order.
Superintendent Simon Hutchison, who oversees neighbourhood policing in Havering, said:
“Having the cutting edge facial recognition technology to identify criminals in Romford has been valuable to not only take wanted offenders off the streets but also deter criminals from coming to the town. I hope this sends a message to wanted offenders that we will catch you and put you before the courts. Our teams are working tirelessly to remove high harm offenders from our streets. We are committed to making Havering safer, using data and technology to identify offenders that pose a risk to our community.”
