Beam Park Labour Councillors Call For Improvements To Community Healthcare.
Beam Park Labour Councillors Trevor Mckeever and Matthew Stanton have contacted the NHS, following the closure of Elm Park Clinic, to call for the provision of blood test services at the Beam Park Medical Centre.
“The NHS will know that many of our residents were using the Elm Park Clinic for blood tests, many by public transport” Councillor McKeever told the Havering Daily. “The relocation of that service to the new site at St Georges is simply less accessible for the people of Beam Park and the wider area. A prudent solution would be to introduce blood testing at Beam Park and Rainham”.
Councillor Matt Stanton agreed that more should be done to bring healthcare to where people are. He told the Havering Daily: “Other non-clinical services like dietician appointments, diabetic education, and so on, should be offered in our community centres and libraries, giving people truly accessible healthcare in their communities”.
The councillors have asked for a meeting with local health officials to discuss what can be done.
Dagenham and Rainham MP, Margaret Mullane, wants to see the Labour Government’s commitment to community healthcare taken on board by the local health service. She told the Havering Daily:”With Queens Hospital so overwhelmed, the focus should be on prevention, education, and helping people to live their healthiest lives. That means helping them to walk, cycle, or bus to healthcare near their homes”.
