Hans Electric Limited, a long-standing business in Elm Park, has announced its closure after nearly 60 years of service to the local community. The company, which was founded by the Kohter family, will officially shut its doors at the end of January 2025.

Victor Kohter, whose parents started the business, expressed his gratitude to the staff, both past and present, who have contributed to the company’s success over the years. “Larraine has been with us for 30 years, while Alan recently joined us after Tony moved on to new opportunities after 22 years of service. Their dedication has been invaluable,” Kohter said.

Special thanks were also extended to Ron, a long-time friend who handled washing machine servicing and repairs for the shop until his retirement. His skills and commitment played a key role in the company’s operations.

Victor also took the time to acknowledge his family’s contribution to the business. His daughter, Natalie, has been instrumental in managing Hans Electric’s Facebook page and website, while his son, Mark, has supported the business behind the scenes. Their efforts have helped keep the store running in recent years.

“We would also like to thank the local Facebook groups—People of Elm Park, Rainham Essex Havering Group, Hornchurch Group, and many others—for allowing us to advertise and for their ongoing support,” Kohter added.

Most importantly, Hans Electric extended its heartfelt appreciation to all its customers, both past and present. “We cannot thank you enough for your loyalty and support over the years,” Kohter said.

Hans Electric will cease trading at the end of January 2025, marking the end of an era for the local business community in Elm Park.
