Female driving instructor targeted by unknown man who jumps into the back of her car and tells her ‘we are going for a ride’.
“You hear of incidents like this being the start and then these individuals continue to carry out horrendous attacks on women.”
A Havering driver instructor has told the Havering Daily about the terrifying moment a man decided to open her back door and tell her to ‘go for a ride’. The instructor who did not wish to be named, was out in Elm Park on a lesson last Thursday 3 October just after 2pm, when the man just blatantly opened her back door, got in and began intimidating her and her pupil.
“I was on the Airfield estate in the Tesco car park. I was teaching my pupil how to bay park when this man opened the back door of my car and got it. He pushed my child’s belongings to the floor and then started saying “We are going for a lesson,” and kept staring at me.
“I told him to get out of my car and he kept repeating, ‘we are going for a lesson,’ or ‘we are going for a ride.’ He kept staring at me and I began shouting to get out of my car.
“After I repeatedly shouted at him to get out of my car, he finally got out and went back into his own car.”
Following this horrendous and frightening incident, the instructor and her pupil were visibly shaken up.
“I immediately locked the doors and then asked my pupil if she was okay, and if she needed me to drive. We were both clearly very shaken. We did not know why he did this. We did not know if he had a knife or what he wanted to do.
“The pupil drove out of the car park and then we pulled over so we could both take a breath after the incident as it left us both badly shocked.”
The instructor believes she was clearly targeted because she is a woman and fears for others if this man does this again.
“What would happen if he does this to a young girl who has just passed her test? Or a pensioner on her way home? You hear of incidents like this being the start and then these individuals continue to carry out horrendous attacks on women.”
The man is described a black male aged between mid to late 20s. His vehicle is described as a black VW Polo with blacked out windows.
Police have been called and the instructor is hoping the man will be located before he intimidates other women.
