The community of Hornchurch and Upminster remain a priority. My officers will not tolerate any criminal behaviour or anti-social behaviour within in any form‘-Inspector Connolly.

Local officers have been patrolling Hornchurch this week to support shopkeepers and the local community. Officers have been visible across Hornchurch Town Centre, actively walking in and out of shops to chat with retailers about their ongoing problems with shoplifting.

Unfortunately due to endless London protests, areas like Hornchurch have not seen the level of officers visible across our high streets as we should have and at a meeting last Friday organised by Hornchurch and Upminster MP Julia Lopez, retailers spoke of their frustrations at the rise of shoplifting.

Now, officers are back on our streets and patrolling the local area on high visibility patrols.

Local Neighbourhoods Inspector for South Havering-Inspector Connolly told the Havering Daily:

“Today I met with The Havering Daily to highlight some of the additional work which is taking place by local policing teams. This follows on from a recent meeting with retailers in Hornchurch High Street, local councillors and MP Julia Lopez.

I can confirm that additional officers have been deployed to support the community and its retailers. This includes additional officers in combination with the local safer neighbourhood team and will continue to be supported by me.

If you are visiting Hornchurch High Street or Upminster High Street I would encourage you to engage with my officers and speak with them. If a crime is being committed please call 999. If it’s a non-emergency please call 101.

I will not tolerate any criminal activity within our community. Officers are actively engaged in supporting the wider local community and I would ask local community members to engage with them and support their local team and its retailers. The community of Hornchurch and Upminster remain a priority. My officers will not tolerate any criminal behaviour or anti-social behaviour within in any form” .
