An incredible shift for East Area officers who respond to a record high level of calls all in one day including a machete incident.
These officers deserve the community’s praise and respect for all the fantastic work they do.
They say policing is job like no other. Yesterday, across East Area our Emergency Response Policing Teams undertook an incredible level of calls, dealing with endless challenges that involved officers being involved in a multitude of life changing situations.
One shift for officers can see them respond to such an variety of calls that it really highlights just how remarkable the work our frontline officers do across our communities. Let us remember these are the people who put their life on the line for us and yesterday across the East Area Basic Command, they did just that.
For those who are thinking, ‘yeah right I bet they were all lined up at Greggs buying sausage rolls’, the response is-they had very little meal break time.
Here for the record, is a list of calls they attended.
XL Bully alleged to have escaped and attacking people in the street.
A domestic assault with a person suffering GBH injuries.
A person on the street brandishing a machete.
A death.
A life changing traffic collision.
A person with a mental health crisis.
A traffic accident.
A domestic with actual bodily harm arrest.
Please note that this is not the full list of calls these officers attended in their one shift.
If you are tired just reading the list, imagine being the officers responding to all those incidents. And let’s not forget that they are also faced with being filmed at many of those calls they responded to, had verbal abuse or faced ongoing challenging situations.
These officers do invaluable work in our community, their level of dedication to their job is second to none.
Superintendent Neal Donohoe – Emergency Response Policing Lead – East Area told the Havering Daily:
“ A sincere Thank you. I know the demands keep coming in, with this each and every day ERPT meet the challenges and do their utmost to keep those on our BCU safe.
Again, thank you for your relentless dedication. I am incredibly privileged and proud to be part of this team.”
Inspector Jo Eglinton for EA South said –
“Honestly, I don’t think any of you could have worked any harder today!
A huge thank you from me, the team doing me proud as always, but also a massive thanks to you to the proactive units and control.”
These shifts are being replicated right across London especially during the busy summer months.
These officers deserve the community’s praise and respect for all the fantastic work they do.
Thank you.
