VIDEO:Havering Mayor pays surprise visit to pensioners celebrating their 74 wedding anniversary.

Last week the Havering Daily featured the heartwarming story of John and Sylvia Cunningham who celebrated their 74 wedding anniversary with a surprise party!

The story was so beautiful that the Havering Daily reached out to our Mayor, Councillor Gerry O’ Sullivan, who agreed to pay a surprise visit to the couple yesterday, Sunday 7 July, to wish them not only a happy anniversary, but also to wish Sylvia a happy 93 birthday!

Our Mayor and Mayoress arrived with a huge bouquet of flowers to wish Sylvia a happy birthday from all the residents of Havering!

Mary, activities and well being lead at Hillside Nursing Home, in Harold Hill hosted another special party for the couple in honour of Sylvia’s birthday and the visit from our Mayor and Mayoress.

She told the Havering Daily:

“We are very honoured, and full of emotions today for what happened. Thank you so much to our Mayor And Mayoress spending time with us and celebrating the 93rd bday and 74th wedding of couple Mr. & Mrs . John Cunningham.”
