Romford is all set to host its first-ever Bike Fest, an exciting celebration of all things cycling. This free event will take place on Saturday, 6th July, in Romford Market Place from 10am to 4pm.

One of the main attractions at Bike Fest will be the circus-style performances happening between 11am and 1pm. These performances are sure to captivate audiences of all ages and are free to watch. Additionally, the event will feature thrilling BMX stunt shows at four intervals: 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm, and 3pm. These displays promise high-flying action and stunts that will leave spectators in awe.

Romford BID has partnered with local and national cycling suppliers and organisations to make this event a memorable one. Free minor bike services and repairs will be offered by Doctor Bike, and Cycle Confident trainers will be on hand to provide tips and information for anyone looking to improve their cycling skills. Visitors can also browse and purchase a variety of bike accessories, with special offers and discounts available on the day.

Peddle My Wheels, a social enterprise, will showcase its try-before-you-buy bike scheme, providing a flexible and affordable way for people to experience cycling before committing to a purchase. Havering Council will also be present, offering information on local cycling schemes and their healthy weight strategy.

From 12pm to 2pm, Romford BID, in collaboration with Select a Mark, will offer free bike marking registrations. This QR code marking system works to deter thieves and helps reunite stolen bikes with their owners.

In addition to the cycling-related activities, the event will feature a range of entertainment for all ages. Visitors can enjoy face painting from 11am to 3pm, sample food and drinks from various market traders, and even try their hand at making smoothies on a dedicated smoothie bike. Free smoothies will be available to the first 150 people.

For those attending with their bikes, secure bike lock-up locations will be available around the town centre. Julie Frost, Romford BID Director, expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “We hope this event will inspire more people to get in the saddle and enjoy cycling. We have great entertainment for all the family and can’t wait to see the performers in action on the day.”

Bike Fest is free to attend, and no pre-booking is required. Join Romford for a day filled with cycling fun, entertainment, and community spirit.
