Public vote opens for this year’s Havering Small Business Awards.

Havering Small Business Awards is now open to the public to vote for their favourite businesses in the borough.

Now in their third year, the Havering Small Business Awards main sponsor is Havering’s 12 Estates Regeneration Joint Venture Partner, Wates. The media sponsor is TIME 107.5 FM.

This year, the awards format changed to help encourage even more businesses from across the whole borough to enter, with the first round of nominations open for businesses to nominate themselves.

It is now over to the community to show some love for the small and independent businesses across the borough that continue to serve us.

The awards, run by Havering Council, are split into 10 categories representing the wide range of small businesses in Havering. These categories are: 

• Best Small or Independent Business, sponsored by Oakleafe Claims
• Best Beauty or Service Business, sponsored by The Havering Daily
• Best Take Away, sponsored by The Havering Daily
• Best Hospitality Business, sponsored by Hills Prospect
• Best Tradesperson, , sponsored by Essex Service Group
• Best Customer Experience, sponsored by Oakleafe Claims
• Best Shopfront, sponsored by K&T Heating
• Best Social Enterprise or CIC, , sponsored by Jax Sun Services
• Best Newcomer (less than a year old), supported by Havering Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• Best Sustainable Business, sponsored by Havering Works, Mayor of London, Levelling Up and HM Government
• The Havering Small Business of the Year Award

The first ten categories are open to nominations from all residents, with the final award, the ‘Havering Small Business of the Year’ chosen from the winners of the other awards by a panel of Council officers, Cabinet Members and sponsors. 

Nominations opened at 9am on Monday 10 June and will close at 4pm on Friday 19 July 2024, giving Havering residents five weeks to vote for their favourite businesses for each of the categories.

The voting form is available on the Havering Council website and only takes a couple of minutes to complete. Only one vote per person will be counted.

The finalists will be invited to a special evening reception in September where the winners will be announced.
