School children from Clockhouse Primary school and the Collier Row area came together yesterday, 6 June to protest against Havering Council’s plans to close their library. The children and their parents gathered outside the building gaining support from the many motorists driving by who hooted their horns.

The library has been used regularly by the children and has been an important part of their community. They are now taking to the streets to campaign to keep the library open so future generations can use it as they have.

Local residents passing by stopped and shared memories of their childhood visits to choose books, listen to stories, take part in activities, research, study, attend talks and meet with friends in a safe place.

The children held posters up and gained much support from their local community.
