Labour Councillor Matt Stanton has been contacted by residents who use the footpath from New Road to access Rainham Village School and the shopping area due to the poor state of the path. With recent changeable weather, the plants along the path have grown substantially and are now encroaching on the footpath making it harder to walk through.

Councillor Stanton has contacted Havering Council twice on this issue after residents reported it themselves to no avail. He told the Havering Daily:”As an organisation, Havering Council is encouraging people, especially parents with schoolchildren, to walk, scoot, or cycle, if they are able to, and if that’s the case we need to make it easier to do so not more difficult.”

Beam Park Councillor and former Mayor Trevor Mckeever also commented on the issue, he told the Havering Daily: “Havering Council was made aware of this before the recent half-term break. We have also contacted the Environment Agency who manage a section of the footpath but the bulk of the issue is Havering’s responsibility.”
