Romford MP Andrew Rosindell joins battle to have speeding restrictions put in place.
Dean Cooper, a Collier Row resident has launched a petition to have speeding restrictions put into place on Mount Pleasant Road following endless daily speeding. Mr Cooper has the full backing of the Member of Parliament for Romford, Andrew Rosindell who visited the road to witness the problems for himself over the weekend.
Mr Cooper told the Havering Daily:”Vehicles along our road daily exceed the 30mph speed limit. As it is a long straight road, they pick up speed as they go downhill which is extremely dangerous. This is particularly noticeable during rush hour when children are walking to and from nearby schools, or being dropped off at the nursery at the end of the road.
“over the last four years myself and many other concerned residents have been in contact with highways officers, Havering Safer Neighbourhoods and local councillors, but have had no success in securing any progress in installing calming measures.”
On Saturday 4 May, Mr Cooper was joined by the Romford MP Andrew Rosindell to see the ongoing issues residents face and discuss ways going forward. Mr Rosindell gave his full support to the residents of Mount Pleasant Road and said he would be assisting in finding a solution to this problem.
Mr Cooper finished: “I am a responsible local resident who only wishes for some reasonable engagement with the council on this matter. Up until now the issue has been largely brushed off by highways officers as they maintain no action can be taken until a fatal accident is recorded.”

Thankfully, London has a mayor who is fully on board with traffic safety measures such as this, Andrew. I suggest you get Mr Prince to raise it with him.
Lucky that Ms Hall didn’t win as her ‘woke war on motorists’ campaign would mean this sort of sensible initiative would have been dumped.
