Let’s work together to build a stronger community and truly put Havering on the map as a place to live, work and raise our families.

In a notable development in local politics, three councillors—Philippa Crowder, John Crowder, and Christine Smith, representing Marshalls and Rise Park Ward, Havering Atte Bower Ward, and Hylands Ward respectively—recently made a significant decision to switch allegiance from the Conservative Party to the Havering Residents Association (H.R.A). Together, they have issued a joint statement formally informing the residents of Havering about their choice.

Dear Residents,

As from mid April we are writing to formally give notice to the residents of Havering, that we have decided to join the Havering Residents Association.

We did enjoy the time working as a team with the Conservative councillors. When myself Councillor Philippa and Councillor John Crowder were elected in 2014, we valued the working relationship we had at that time.

We went on to have a successful working relationship once again in 2018 with the added value of elected, Councillor Christine Smith.

Unfortunately from 2022 in our opinion the working relationships between the association did not hold the same level of trust and values that we hold dear.

So in light of our experience and expectations we have decided on a new course of action for ourselves in principles and values.

However, we only became councillors in order to serve our residents rather than any party political agenda.

Given the financial issues that Havering Council faces we will do whatever we can to support both our ward residents and Havering in these challenging times.

We wish to have the confidence of the residents to continue with the loyal support you have shown us in the past.

Let’s work together to build a stronger community and truly put Havering on the map as a place to live, work and raise our families.
