Fantastic Day of Action sees officers shut down Cannabis farm with street value of £250K in Dagenham.
On Tuesday 12 March, Safer Neighbourhood officers took part in a day of action across Dagenham.
Inspector Ian Handley led the operation and worked with the Drugs Focus Desk to obtain a drugs warrant under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act for an address in Broad Street. Officers conducted hi visibility patrols and weapon sweeps in and around Millard Terrace, The Heathway and Blackbourne Road. A crime prevention stall was held in the Heathway in partnership with the Local Authority offering advice on violence against women and girls.
This was another successful operation which resulted in an arrest of one adult male for cultivation of cannabis, one arrest of an adult male for possession of a point and bladed article in Millard terrace following a stop and search, who was charged and remanded for court. Throughout the day the team conducted seven stop and searches.
Intelligence was gathered by the local Dedicated Ward Officer PC Kluj and the Drugs Focus Desk on an address in Broad Street where 295 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of around £250k were found. One male aged 25 was arrested for cultivation of cannabis and has been remanded on Police Bail.
Inspector Handley of the Dagenham Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: “This was a fantastic result in our efforts to disrupt organised crime groups who are operating across Barking and Dagenham. We understand how drugs supply effects the community and that these cannabis factories are often part of groups funding serious organised crime. If you have information on who is supplying drugs, report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”
The premises has now been secured by the police and all plants will be seized, whilst the investigation continues.
