A variety of different representatives joined a special new men’s mental health group launched yesterday evening in Harold Wood.

The event was organised by Rachel Grimwood who has been working hard to get a group for men to give them the opportunity to allow their voices to be heard. Statistics clearly show that men struggle in silence and are often too afraid to speak out in regarding their mental health.

Yesterday, Tuesday 5 March saw Stuart from Andy’s Man Club give a special talk on men’s mental health and how their group began with the specific aim to give men a safe space to open up and unburden without any judgement.

Also present was Gary, co-founder of PTSD999 who supports many members of our blue light services with their mental health, Scott from JFF Security and Solutions, Members of the Elizabeth Line and Network Rail, Pat from the Samaritans who works closely with other members in our community, British Transport Police officers and many other representatives from the local community.

It was a great evening where men had the chance to listen to Stuart talk about his struggles and how Andy’s Man Club can help, and engage with other men about important mental health issues.

Sadly the key focus here was just how poor resources are for men suffering with their mental health and how the local Crisis Team were frequently unreachable or even worse, failed to call back when a person is in desperate need.

The evening provided much discussion and the chance for men to finally speak out.
