New Homes should not be a headache-Beam Park Councillors hold L&Q to account.
Beam Park Ward Councillor Trevor Mckeever attended a community meeting on Wednesday evening hosted by Countryside and L&Q for residents of the new Beam Park development along the A1306.
Tenants and owner-occupiers all shared their views and issues such as vandalism of doors, repairs to lifts, and pest control were all raised by several residents. L&Q are aware that the local councillors expect a good service to be provided and that they will be in frequent contact with them.
Residents were pleased to hear that the new Health Centre is expected to open to the public in March or April of this year. With 22 consulting rooms it will have capacity for 20’000 registered patients, representing a significant easing of the healthcare situation in this area following the closure of the GP surgery in Frederick Road.
A representative from Jon Cruddas MP’s office updated residents on the latest news regarding Beam Park Station, c2c, the Greater London Authority, and Havering Council, are all working hard to show that the business case for the station is sound, and this should be presented to the Department of Transport in April this year.
Questions were asked about the plans for the commercial unit on the site and plans for a pharmacy and dentist were well received. There will also be retail outlets and office space.
This half term sees a schedule of children’s events in the multi-use game area, and a programme of community events was announced for the rest of the year.
The new primary school, with 30 nursery places to go alongside the nursery already open on the development, will be ready for the new school year.
Finally, a community project, Beam Park Bees, was announced. Residents will be given training and helped to construct beehives, with the aim of producing honey and increasing bio-diversity as bees are an important part of the pollination process.
