Rapists who filmed victim’s attack in Hornchurch jailed.
The victim recalled being raped inside the car by one of the defendants, while the other recorded the attack on his phone
A complex investigation by Havering CID officers and the bravery of the victim has seen Rinor Korqa, 25 of Dunton Road, Romford and Bujar Jashari, 34, of Victoria Road, Southend, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court where on Wednesday, 24 January both were sentenced for rape.
They had previously been convicted at the same court following trial on Monday, 22 January.
Korqa was sentenced to five years and six month imprisonment for rape and failing to disclose his mobile phone PIN.
Jashari was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
Detective Sergeant Charlie Yexley from Havering CID said: “This was a complex investigation into two predatory offenders who would likely still be offending now if it wasn’t for the bravery of the victim in coming forward.
On 25 June 2023 a 34-year-old woman became separated from her friends during a night out in Hornchurch town centre. She was alone, in a bar, when she was approached by two men who took her to a car and drove away with her.
The victim recalled being raped inside the car by one of the defendants, while the other recorded the attack on his phone.
Staff at the bar assisted with police enquiries and it was established that the suspects had been seen approaching several women in the bar prior to leaving with the victim.
The suspects were identified following complex examination of CCTV and Automatic Number Plate Reader [ANPR] data.
DC Yexley added: “We take allegations of this type very seriously and I hope this case encourages other victims of rape and sexual assault to come forward, at the very least so we can ensure you are okay and supported.”
Anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault or rape should report the incident to police by dialling 101, or report online. In an emergency always dial 999.
