On Thursday, 4 January a 19-year-old in male in Barking was arrested and charged with three counts of breaching a Sexual Risk Order.

He was previously arrested on 19 December 2023 on suspicion of a breach of his order and was released on bail pending further enquiries.  His electronic devices were examined and he was further arrested.

A Sexual Risk Order is a civil injunction, and preventative measure, obtained under Section 122A-L of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 which aims to restrict grooming or preparatory behaviour of the public, children and vulnerable adults.

Police can apply for orders where there is no conviction but where a sexual act has occurred and there is sufficient concern for the sexual risk that the individuals pose.

The investigation continues.
