Havering Labour Councillors delighted with decision to extend funding for the Sycamore Trust.

Havering’s Labour Councillors were delighted by the decision to extend the funding of the Sycamore Trust for 6 months while the service is reviewed.

Even in this Council’s difficult financial circumstances, people with Autism cannot be left without support and Labour is pleased that residents’ concerns have been listened to and that engagement work is going to be done with service users to see how they can best be supported.

People with Autism in general are less likely to be employed – 22% of autistic adults versus 80% of non-disabled adults and 47% of disabled adults overall – and support from services like the Autism Hub – run by the Sycamore Trust – is vital for helping them reach their potential and find fulfilling work, vocational, or volunteering opportunities.

Havering Labour is keen to hear from every resident affected by prospective changes to services and when consultation opportunities arise, especially with regards to our most vulnerable friends and neighbours, every response counts.
