Labour representatives call for the restoration of the Rainham War Memorial.
News from Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas and Labour Prospective Parliamentary candidate Margaret Mullane.
Following Sunday’s Remembrance Day service in RainhamVillage local members of Jon Cruddas MP’s team drew attention to the condition of one of the clock faces of the War Memorial.
Despite having been treated and painted eight years ago, one of the faces was now rusted and in need of maintenance.
Margaret Mullane, Labour PPC for Dagenham and Rainham, told the Havering Daily: “The Remembrance Day services across Dagenham and Rainham were impeccably observed. It is so vital that we remember and honour those who gave their lives to protect democracy and our way of life in Britain.
“When it was brought to my attention that one of the clock faces on the War Memorial in Rainham Village was showing signs of corrosion, I contacted Havering Council to ask that they carry out the necessary maintenance to the War Memorial.”
