Fly tipping success as rubbish to be removed and cameras to be installed on parts of the A1306 Rainham.

Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Margaret Mullane’s long battle to have horrendous fly tipping removed achieves success.

In the summer the Havering Daily was informed by one of our readers that persistent fly tipping was taking place on the A1306 in Rainham. A small section along the road was being used to dump everything from mattresses, to fridges, sofas and old armchairs. For local residents living nearby, the area looked terrible and really was any eyesore.

We visited the site with Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Dagenham and Rainham Margaret Mullane and Rainham ward Councillor Sue Ospreay. Both ladies agreed that the dump was completely unacceptable and something had to be done.

Following weeks of battling to get this resolved, Margaret has had success.

She has received the following information from Streetscene Enforcement: After a long process to contact the right landowner, who has been in Australia, officers have spoken to them concerning this issue. A price for removal was agreed.

The officer has also requested a camera along this section as we have been advised they bring the gates forward to the boundary, then we can deal with anything dumped on this side.

In response Margaret told the Havering Daily:

“After putting pressure on Havering Council to address the ongoing fly tipping issue along the A1306 New Road leading to Wennington. I am pleased to report that plans are in place to remove the rubbish and a request made for a camera to be put in place.

“Great news”.
