Thousands of women across the UK are still being paid lower wages than their male colleagues. Believe it or not, here we are in 2023 and women are still getting under £10.

Asda female workers are getting £2 less than their male colleagues. This was highlighted yesterday by Labour Prospective Candidate for Dagenham and Rainham, Margaret Mullane who joined store workers in Dagenham to stand in solidarity with female workers

In 2022, Asda published its gender pay figures. The median pay between men and women was 6.1% to 4.7%.

Margaret joined GMB members fighting for equal pay rights.

She told the Havering Daily:

“It beggars belief that in the 21st century, women doing work of equal value to their male colleagues are being paid less. And yet that is the situation that women workers at ASDA find themselves in.

“I fully support the ASDA ladies’ and the GMB union’s campaign to right this wrong.”

Margaret joined GMB member Nathan Clarke yesterday at Asda in Dagenham.
