‘Romford is a town to be milked’-Councillor David Taylor.

Following Havering Council’s announcement of proposed savings, ‘Councillor David Taylor‘ has described the proposals as an ‘attack on Romford.’

Due to be debated and approved, by the joint Resident’s Association and Labour cabinet on November 8th, proposals include closing Romford’s Sunday market, hiking parking charges, and removing the award-winning Section 92 police team.

Taylor described these measures as an attack on Romford, highlighting that they bear less impact on the rest of the Borough.

“Romford is a historic market town, the economic centre of the Borough. We also have the largest concentration of Crime in the area.

Cutting back our market, hiking parking charges, and removing the policing team will have a greater impact on our town than anywhere else”.

Amongst savings rejected by the administration was the removal of 30 minutes free parking in Hornchurch and Upminster areas. Removing this, and bringing them in line with the Romford, would have produced an additional £1m according to the Council’s proposals.

“It is a slap in the face to Romford”, Councillor Taylor said, “That Hornchurch and Upminster will retain £1m worth of free parking, whilst introducing £1m of extra parking charges”.

“The announcement of these damaging cuts comes hot on the heels of the Council announcing that they will spend £160k to ‘consult on the North Street Roundabout’.

“It is clear that Labour and the so-called resident’s associations view Romford as a town to be milked”

Why is our MP Rosser the Tosser not saying anything on this?
