Hit musical ‘School of Rock’ comes to Romford theatre.
Romford’s Brookside Theatre is ready to rock with the hit comedy musical.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll rock as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical comes to the streets of Romford.
School of Rock is a hilarious musical based on the smash-hit 2003 film of the same name. This ‘laugh-out-loud’ production features 14 dazzling new songs by legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, as well as a book by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and lyrics by Glenn Slater, who is known for his work as lyricist on
Disney’s Tangled and Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies.
The show follows the story of Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star whose dreams have continued long after his music career has failed to take off. When a prestigious school calls up and offers a whopping sum for a supply teacher, Dewey decides to earn some extra cash by posing as his friend and flat mate, Ned Schneebly. Not content with the regular curriculum, Dewey sets out to turn the group of bookish straight-A pupils into guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. With the Battle of the Bands competition on the horizon, Dewey has the chance to live out his dreams through the new generation of young rock stars – but will he be able to get them there without their parents or the school’s uptight headmistress finding out?
The show’s stars include theatre director, Jai Sepple as the iconic ‘Dewey Finn’, Talia Djanogly as ‘Rosalie Mullins’, Julian Silverman as ‘Ned Scheebly’ and Lois’Grace Atkins as ‘Patty Di Marco’ with the production’s local young actors, Jaden Christopher (Freddy), Syd Knight (Katie), Lara Gorman (Laura), Aarion Bose (Zach), Sapphire Hagon (Summer) and Leona Mbenza (Tomika), sensationally performing many of the shows songs live every night with roof-raising energy! The show is directed by Harri Sepple by arrangement with the Really Useful Group.
Featuring songs from the original movie, as well as over a dozen brilliant new Andrew Lloyd Webber additions, this musical delivers high-octane guitar riffs and moving moments in equal measures, with Jack Black himself stating “I laughed. I cried. I rocked!”. A fantastic evening not to be missed…
SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL runs from Thursday 2 Nov – Sunday 5th November 2023 and tickets are available online at brooksidetheatre.com or from the box office on 01708 755775.
