Emergency residents meeting to be held following endless fires at Launders Lane.
Families having to wear masks inside their homes and children not being able to play out doors due to the high level of smoke.
Rainham residents living near Launders Lane are not only fed up, but at their wits end dealing with the smell of smoke in their houses, having to shut all their windows, suffering with coughs, itchy eyes, and asthma as the fires continue to burn.
On Monday evening, residents reported the fires still burning at 11.30pm and firefighters being on scene until the early hours of the morning. They also reported smoke billowing across the A1306 New Road and other local roads impacting the whole area.
After weeks of fires burning, residents have now had enough and have called an emergency meeting this Friday 1 September 7pm, at Harris Academy.
This is a climate crisis for Rainham residents who have now reported families are wearing masks in their own home due to the smoke, children cannot play outside in the school holidays and residents are suffering many health issues.
The meeting has been organised by the Launders Lane Crisis group in bid to bring help to residents who have suffered for years with these ongoing fires.
