Havering motorcycle emissions centre opens to help make your motorcycle ULEZ compliant.

A motorcycle emissions centre has opened in Havering to help local motorcyclists make their bike ULEZ compliant.

Owner of the business Tony, told the Havering Daily:

“After a long 14 months of trying to set up this testing facility, we have finally been approved by TfL to carry out motorcycle emission testing to make your motorcycle compliant with ULEZ.

“Motorcycles are affected by the ULEZ charge and the Nox emission level was never put on their V5 logbooks till the middle of 2007. Any motorcycles prior to this date currently have to pay the charge. However, many motorcycles are well under the Nox limit for ULEZ. So TfL have allowed for authorised testing centres to be opened to let owners have their motorcycles tested and made exempt from the charge, rather than make them sell or scrap the machines. 

“The test is done on a rolling road and we test the bike to Euro 3 emission levels. Test takes 30 minutes in total and costs £175. If the motorcycle is within the limits, we notify TfL and it is made exempt from the charge. If it is over, we can carry out modifications to the motorcycle and re-test it to get it under. 

“We are based in Noak Hill and are just on the border of the new extended ULEZ zone. We have been in business here since the late 1970’s and are a very well-established motorcycle business within the classic motorcycle world. Therefore, have a lot of experience on the motorcycles that require testing.”
