Romford resident’s fears over large drain hole near Roneo Corner.

Residents living near Vickers House, Roneo Corner have expressed their fears over a large drain hole that has appeared that could be extremely damaging.

Jamie who lives in the area, reported the damage to the drain cover yesterday Wednesday 9 August, after worries that the elderly and disabled could suffer serious damage if they fell.

Jamie who is disabled, told the Havering Daily: “This hole is just near an old people’s home, if one of them fell on this, it could be very serious.

“I have a mobility scooter and pieces of wood have been thrown down the hole, with my scooter I could easily fall and injure myself. This is very dangerous for people on mobility scooters and those walking in the area.”

Having seen Jamie’s concerns looking at the hole yesterday, local builders placed a temporary cover over it to stop people hurting themselves.

Jamie has reported this to the council and the Havering Daily informed Cabinet Member Councillor Barry Mugglestone who is extremely proactive and is dealing with this as a matter of urgency.

Councillor Mugglestone told the Havering Daily: “I would like to thank the resident who bought this to your attention. As I always say-it is the good residents of Havering that are our ears and eyes. I have reported this and the council team will make this safe and inform the utility company so that it can be repaired.”
