Concerns raised over the proposed closure of the ticket office at Romford station.

Andrew Rosindell MP has written to Greater Anglia to express his concerns about the proposed closure of the ticket office at Romford Station.

In his letter, Mr Rosindell said that the ticket office provides a vital service for many people, especially the elderly and disabled. He noted that ticket offices account for under 15% of sales nationally, but that a large number of his constituents still rely on the ticket office to sell them a ticket.

Andrew also expressed concern that the closure of the ticket office would make it more difficult for people with disabilities to travel by train. He pointed out that the Disability Act requires reasonable adjustments to be made for disabled travelers, and that ticket offices often provide this service.

Finally, Mr Rosindell asked Greater Anglia to provide more information about their proposals for the Romford Station ticket office. He also asked for clarification on how the needs of all passengers would be considered.

“I am concerned that the closure of the ticket office at Romford Station would have a negative impact on many people,” said Rosindell. “I urge Greater Anglia to reconsider their proposals and to ensure that the needs of all passengers are met.”

The proposed closure of the Romford Station ticket office is part of a wider plan by Greater Anglia to reduce the number of staffed stations. The company has said that the closures are necessary to save money.

However, the proposals have been met with opposition from some passengers and local politicians. Mr Rosindell’s letter is the latest in a series of protests against the closures.

It remains to be seen whether Greater Anglia will proceed with the closures. However, the MP’s letter has put the company under pressure to reconsider its plans.

It is vital to have someone present who can answer questions, not just for the elderly!

However, that is a really old picture of the station!

Greater Anglia don’t run the station and haven’t done so since 2015, and there isn’t a proposal to close the ticket office.
