Margaret Mullane, Labour’s Dagenham and Rainham’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, received a briefing from the NHS on local take up levels of vaccination against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR). Worryingly only 73.6% of children under 5 in Barking and Dagenham have been vaccinated, in Havering the figure is 83.5%. Both are well below the World Health Organisation’s target of 95% of children vaccinated.

Margaret told the Havering Daily: “Cases of measles are rising in England. Measles is more than just a rash with one in five children needing a hospital visit. Make sure your child is up to date with their MMR vaccination to give them the best protection again becoming seriously unwell”.  https://northeastlondon.icb.nhs.uk/measles

She added: “The NHS has set vaccination clinic sessions in the Dagenham and Rainham constituency. Measles can be a horrible disease that is completely preventable through vaccination.”

The vaccination clinic sessions are:

Thursday 27 July 4 – 7 pm Rainham Library

Saturday 5 August 10 – 3pm Dagenham Library

Monday 14 August 10 – 3pm Valence Library

Saturday 19 August 10 – 3pm Dagenham Library

Thursday 24 August 10 – 3pm Rainham Library
