A Harold Wood residents talks exclusively to the Havering Daily about the ongoing problems in the area.

Two weeks ago Harold Wood residents received a letter from Array informing them of their temporary closure as they look to refurbish and take on new management.

Residents living near the venue have been complaining for years in regards to the anti social behaviour, including noise, horrendous parking, and even stabbings that have taken place. They appealed to the council for help for months and have lived for long periods of time with very poor conditions.

In December last year, Havering Licensing Team informed the owners of Array that they were to close their doors at 11pm during the week and 12pm at weekends. Array appealed and the venue continued as before.

One local resident who did not wish to be named, told the Havering Daily:

“We have been living with appalling living conditions and despite the council telling us we wouldn’t be successful we were. But of course Array appealed on December 23 which really ruined everyone’s Christmas. They carried on as they always have done.

“Now, they have agreed the conditions we have asked for, except staying open a bit later. However, we do not know if the agreement has been signed. We have been waiting for more information since January and have been kept in the dark since then. Why are the residents not being told by the council what is going on?

“We also received a letter confirming what we have been saying for a year and had two men believed to be the new managers knocking on our doors and introducing themselves and informing us that they do want to work with the local community here.

“We have also had drones flying over our back gardens recently and no one knew who they belonged to until we saw the new promotional video for Array and saw our gardens. This is an intrusion on our privacy.

“We have been fighting for years and now we have no further information on what is going on. We do not know why we have been left in the dark since January.”

If the unnamed correspondent is worried about drones, I suggest they visit YouTube and look for ‘Droney Tony’, he has extensively filmed over most of Havering and posted the results.
