On the day the Met Police highlighted its new policing plan, East Area officers were once again on the streets tackling violence against women and girls.

A team of officers were on Crow Lane in Romford yesterday (18 July) talking to residents about their concerns and handing out a variety of devices such as alarms to help women feel safe. The team were led by Romford Town Centre Sergeant Sarah Wolfe who has done an outstanding job reducing crime against women, encouraging them to speak up against violence and helping them reclaim the street and feel safe.

Sergeant Wolfe was also joined by Havering Enforcement Manager Jane Eastaff who works incredibly hard looking after Havering’s nightlife and works hand in hand with our police officers. The team spoke to nearby residents and tackled any issues regarding safety across the area. Residents were encouraged to download the Street Safe app to report issues that concern them.

East Area officers, under Sergeant Wolfe, have been extremely dedicated and committed to tackling violence against women and girls. Officers have been visible across all three London Boroughs, talking to many residents in particular women. The number of offences against women have dropped thanks to the long standing commitment by Sergeant Sarah and her team.
