‘I remain completely resolute in my view that Brexit has truly liberated our people of this country’- Andrew Rosindell MP.

Today, Romford MP and proud Brexiteer Andrew Rosindell writes in the Havering Daily.

Within the last fortnight, it was seven years since our national vote to leave the European Union – a campaign that I was proud to play a part in for many decades before the actual vote took place. Working closely with the great Bill Cash C.H. M.P., through the European Foundation; founding and becoming Chairman of a European-wide organisation, the European Young Conservatives (E.Y.C.), a group that brought young people together who believed in free nations, free people and free markets; to walking the streets of Romford with Margaret Thatcher, opposing to the adoption of the Euro (thank God we kept the pound!), I have long supported Britain’s freedom outside the clutches of the E.U.

I remain completely resolute in my view that the decision by the United Kingdom to get out of the E.U., has truly liberated our people of this country.  If there is one theme which has guided us throughout our history is that the people of the British Isles are a sovereign people who have ushered in worldwide parliamentary democracy, the rule of law and the freedom of the individual. Remaining within the European Union would have contradicted the essence of our national consciousness. Yet for reasons I could never understand, there was and still is a subsection of the political establishment who wanted to take our historic liberties away, to be replaced by subservience to European Union institutions.

So, since the day of that momentous vote for independence, what have we gained?

One of the fundamental principles at the heart of BREXIT was the restoration of British parliamentary sovereignty. By reclaiming control over our laws, regulations, and judicial decisions, BREXiT has empowered the British people to make choices that reflect our interests and aspirations. This newfound sovereignty allows us to shape our legislation according to our specific needs, facilitating efficient governance for the benefit of all. During the referendum campaign, a recurring question was, “what do unelected bureaucrats in Brussels – technocrats who can veto British legislation – know about the interests of those in Essex, Cornwall, Yorkshire, Ayrshire, and Ulster?” I would ask you all that question again today!

As Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Groups (A.P.P.G.) on Canada and Australia & New Zealand, as well as the A.P.P.G. on the Commonwealth (fifty-six nations who have an affinity with Britain), I am thrilled that BREXIT has also liberated us from the restrictive trade policies of the E.U., quite literally opening up a world of opportunities. Through this, BREXIT has rekindled our relationship with the Commonwealth who we turned our backs on when we joined the European Economic Community in 1973. As we confidently take our place on the global stage, we are now strengthening our ties with Commonwealth nations, unlocking untapped trade potential, and fostering closer cultural, educational, and diplomatic relationships. This is particularly true for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and other Commonwealth Realms that share King Charles III as their Head of State. Together, we can harness the collective strength of the Commonwealth to address global challenges and promote prosperity and democratic values.

BREXIT has safeguarded our cherished national identity by freeing us from the clutches of European federalism. We can now chart our own course, ensuring that our laws and regulations reflect our distinct cultural heritage and democratic traditions. Rather than being subsumed into a bureaucratic superstate, we can maintain our autonomy and preserve the institutions that have served us so well throughout history. Why would we surrender all that our nation stands for to be part of a colossal European empire that, as evident from the negotiations post-Referendum, does not have our best interests at heart?

BREXIT has certainly not diminished our commitment to global cooperation. On the contrary, it has provided us with the opportunity to forge new alliances that align with our strategic interests and global outlook. The recent formation of the A.U.K.U.S. alliance, comprising Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, demonstrates our resolve to tackle emerging challenges and foster stability in the Indo-Pacific region. This partnership will enhance our security, defence capabilities, and technological advancements, ensuring that we remain a global force for good.

While challenges have undoubtedly accompanied this monumental decision, it is essential to focus on the opportunities that lie ahead. By embracing Brexit and the virtues it embodies, we can shape a brighter, more prosperous future for our great nation, anchored in global engagement, sovereignty, and a commitment to our shared values. We must not let those who wanted to undermine the voice of the majority in favour of a minority opinion win! Although we still have many hurdles to face, such as dealing with the issue around migration and the interference of the European Court of Human Rights, (another BREXIT is needed there, perhaps?), we have set the groundwork for a truly prosperous and independent Britain!

Isn’t Rosindell suspended from Parliament? So the people of Romford have no representative, hardly improving democracy

Anyone who believed the lies they were sold for Brexit, pushed heavily by client journalists, and still thinks they are of benefit to anyone, anywhere, is beyond help. Mr Rosindell seems to be in this bucket, Why would anyone believe a word from an MP who has been bailed 4 times after his arrest on suspicion of rape, sexual assault, abuse of a position of trust and misconduct in public office and hasn’t represented Romford in Parliament since January 2022?

Byelection looming, if a recall petition is called. Shame on this newspaper featuring the views of somebody like this.
