Havering Council Leader meets landowner of Arnolds Field, Launders Lane.
Last week the Leader of the Council, the Chief Executive and senior officers met with the landowner of Arnolds Field, Launders Lane Jerry O’Donovan of DMC Services and other representatives.
The Leader of Havering Council, Councillor Ray Morgon, said:
“We had a constructive meeting with Mr O’Donovan and his representatives where the owner set out his plans for the site and how to resolve the ongoing issues.
“We both agreed that we need to do the best for the local community and solutions need to be found and that we will continue to have an open dialogue. Further meetings will now take place with the Council’s Planning Team to discuss their pre-application plans, as well as allowing a company to access the land to do soil sampling to better understand what materials are buried underneath.
“The land is currently designated as Green Belt and it is clear that any solutions need to be sympathetic to that but also offer a way forward to end the ongoing issues of fires. However, we have an open mind in how to resolve this and will work with Mr O’Donovan and his representatives.”
