Beam Park Councillors urge residents to park responsibly after series of parking problems in the area.
Beam Park Labour councillors are urging residents to park responsibly and be understanding, after being contacted by residents from Spencer Road and the new Beam Park development, over parking issues.
“Some new residents, let down by the Conservative failure to approve Beam Park Station, feel like they must retain a car to get around. With limited parking in the development approved before Trevor or myself were elected, these residents have looked to nearby streets where there are no parking restrictions in order to park their cars,” Councillor Matt Stanton told the Havering Daily.
“Unfortunately, this has led to some worrying behaviour, residents have been followed home to ‘check’ where they live, and some cars have had signs placed on them, even though they are legally parked,” said Councillor Trevor Mckeever.
The councillors have already had meetings with officers about consulting residents over a controlled parking zone in the area, and have, at residents request, asked them to consider a zone that only covers Spencer Road.
“We don’t want to see people falling out with each other, I think there has to be some give and take for now while we work with officers to come to a solution.” said Councillor McKeever.
