Police officers spat on whilst making arrest in Romford.
Police were called to Romford yesterday Wednesday 14 June following reports that a man was threatening staff at a shop on South Street.
The incident happened at 12.20 as officers arrived and identified a suspect at the location. He fled the scene as an arrest was attempted, giving way to a foot chase.He was arrested nearby on suspicion of public order offences and further arrested for assault on an emergency worker after it was alleged he spat at arresting officers. The investigation continues.
The suspect is a man aged in his 20s.
Police are aware of the social media footage in relation to part of this incident. Officers will be required to account for their use of force by providing relevant body warn video.
