‘We are closer to a resolution than we have ever been for 20 years under a Conservative watch’-Councillor Jackie McArdle.
Today, Rainham ward Councillor Jackie McArdle writes in the Havering Daily on the issue of the Launders Lane crisis.
I read with interest the article regarding Launders Lane from Councillor Keith Prince the new leader of Havering’s Conservative Party.
To say the HRA are dragging their feet and are inactive is grossly unfair and simply not true. We are closer to a resolution than we have ever been for 20 years when under a Conservative watch and to say they knew nothing is also misleading as Councillor Jeff Tucker raised this several times during his reign and he was ignored, as was Launders Lane.
Councillor Ospreay, Edwards and myself met Councillor Prince on the 18th August 2022 regarding Launders Lane and Wennington, and a detailed email was sent on the 23rd August with issues and requests we wanted him to raise at Mayor’s Question Time as our GLA Representative.
I received a phone call from him regarding the possibility that Launders Lane had been used to dump toxic waste from the Olympic Site, saying there were no kept records of this. We had also asked on behalf of the LFB for a bowser and a hydrant to be moved which would help them deal with the recurring fires and fearful of another incident on the magnitude of the Wennington Fires, but sadly neither have been addressed.
On 6th September my colleagues and I left The Conservative Party and joined The HRA. Since then these issues have not been bought up in Chambers by anyone from The Conservative Party and to my knowledge haven’t been bought up at City Hall or if they have we have had no feedback!
It looks like the new Conservative Leader is trying to blame The HRA for their own party’s failings!
